Have a peak through this section to see what client's are asking ... frequently :-)
Q. When should I get photos done?
A. As a photographer and mom of course my answer is ALL THE TIME!!! However reality is we tend to photograph the milestones ... so here's the big ones:
pregnancy: anytime between 34 weeks till full term so you get the full shape ... just remember that babies can come early so I don't recommend waiting much past 37 weeks (yes I have photographed a client after her water broke!).
newborn: from birth to about 10 days old is the window for most ... babies will mostly sleep and are very "poseable" for some unique shots.
new babe: great around 10-14 weeks ... at this point your baby will be more awake, allowing a session to capture awake time, tummy time, lifting their head, feeding, and sleeping ... all while still being little. Also a great chance to capture some of your first family pictures.
sitting up: around 6-8months depending on your babe but before crawling ... your little one is "reading" books, playing with toys, has lots of smiles and can sit up and cheer!
one year old: the first year goes by so fast ... and once they reach their first birthday it's always nice to have some photos. Some will be walking and some not yet ... you can either capture them at exactly one year old or wait till they're walking and head for a location shoot.
anytime: the above just provides an idea ... really anytime in your family life is special and deserves a photograph to "freeze" the moment. Little Frog Photography also helps you capture special moments with studio specials that coincide with Easter, Halloween & Christmas - when you may not need a full photo session but would still like to have some memories at a special price.
Q. What should I/we wear?
A. Keep it simple - for adults, kids and babes alike. If you are coming for a studio session think about contrasting colours with little to no pattern (i.e. with white background try black or brights, for black backgrounds stick with whites/neutrals). Denim always photographs well in any situation and provides a crisp, classic look for both studio and location shoots. With infants and kids the key is comfort ... the more comfortable they are the longer they will last! Babes look great in their own skin too! For family shots you don't all have to dress in matching outfits - just best not to contrast each other.
Q. I'm coming for a studio shoot - is it okay to bring a change of clothes for variety?
A. Absolutely! Just off the studio is a bedroom and washroom for you to use. Changing outfits is great as it provides more variety to your session and allows your photos to "pop" against various backdrops used.
Q. I want to 'show some skin' for my maternity or newborn session but don't necessarily want them posted on the site. Is that okay?
A. I use the photos to showcase my talents and provide examples for future clients - if I didn't provide examples of my work I most likely wouldn't get bookings! I may use photos from your session for either my website or printed portfolios and ask that if you are opposed to this practice to please inform me before you finalize your booking (for example if you don't want any photos on the site). However, if there are certain shots that you feel are more private by all means I don't have to use them.
Q. Do you require a deposit for a booking?
A. At this time I do not and instead trust that you will honour your appointment commitment. This has proven successful for over 2 years. However, if this becomes a problem I will change my policy in the future. I do get the odd cancellation due to illness, etc and that's okay - the more notice you can give me the better but as a mom I know how fast a good day can turn into a bad one - and sick kids don't photograph well so best to reschedule for a day when everyone's feeling better!
Payment for your package is due at your session (cash or cheque).
Q. Some photographers charge per print and don't offer digital negatives but you do right?
A. Yes, each session, whether it be a full studio/location shoot or simply a studio special, includes a high resolution copy of your digital negatives, as indicated by the package you select. By providing the digital negatives you have the freedom to print a photo today or 10 years from now in any size you wish. I do offer printing if you prefer to have me take care of it for you.
Images included on your digital negative disc will be fully edited by the photographer, and will include some shots as both colour images and black and white.
